The comparisons are useful. I am closing on a home here in Gainesville this Friday. I have family here, and I like its proximity to cities such as Jacksonville, Orlando and St. Augustine. Housing and property taxes are lower than south Florida where I have come from, and I am looking forward to exploring the springs and other parks.

This is so strange to watch as an adult. I grew up on a farm between High Springs and Newberry in the 80's. Some things have changed drastically and others not at all.

Looks like near UF , up 441 or near I-75 is the best Largest amount of crime is out near the airport, I am guessing that is where most of the homeless camps are located Thanks for telling us about this crime stats website I worked at the airport 10 years and lived in a hotel in Waldo and went home to Tampa on the weekends. Didn't really explore Gainesville much but I think it's a good college town

So relived to not have to worry about gator encounters at Publix! 😆I moved from southeast Florida, and would expect some relief on homeowner's insurance on account of us being inland more. That's a plus for sure. Thanks Donald for another helpful video. I just bought a home here in Gainesville, and I can easily say it's better than being in the more expensive area of south Florida. The pace of life and more seasonal weather is appealing to me.

Wow! I moved away from Gainesville 50 years ago. The absolutely best pizza in town then was Leonardo’s. Glad to see it still is on the Top Five list. I miss it.!

Failed to mention Zipline Canyon park in Ocala. It's probably the only place in florida where you zipline through actual Canyons, well its really limestone rock but they are 90 feet high, so it definitely gives a mountain vibe. Also ocala is hillier then Gainesville, so mountain biking is popular thing in ocala. Just adding a little help.

I’m really grateful for your sharing all your experience with Gainesville. I was accepted to UF for transfer recently and as an out-of-state student I am so thrilled about the idea of getting to live in Florida later this year, especially Gainesville. It looks beautiful (I love the more tropical landscape) and the prices are a lot more palatable than what I’m used to.
